When you close your eyes at a ‘Hotel California’ concert, you would swear you have been transported back to the 1970s and dropped in the middle of an Eagles concert.

The former performed Friday evening in Camrose at the Best Western Plus Camrose Resort Casino, opening the concert with the classic Witchy Woman, with drummer, Dean Young’s jaw-dropping, Henley-sound-alike vocals setting the bar high for the rest of the evening.

Hotel California is an Eagles tribute band that was formed by guitar player extraordinaire Mike Dimoulas and bass player and vocalist Andy Lapointe in 1986.

Drummer Dean Young joined the band in 2003, and Rick Sypder joined on lead guitar and vocals in 2008.

Centred in Ontario, the group has travelled throughout North America performing.

Friday’s crowd enjoyed a wide range of Eagles’ classic tunes, from the country vibes of ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling,’ where the band’s great harmonies reinforced the Eagles’ experience, to the Joe Walsh classic ‘Rocky Mountain Way,’ and classic favourites ‘Desperado’ and ‘Hotel California.’
