Seminar to provide insights into new energy possibilities for landowners
The Battle River Research Group and the Heisler Ag. Society have partnered together on a project to present ‘Energy, The Possibilities,’ with three presenters talking about different aspects of energy production and management for farm and acreage owners.
The three presenters during the day will be Gordon Howell, John Kolk, and Olivia Sieniewicz.
Howell has worked in the field of solar energy for more than three and a half decades, and has developed a course, which he instructs, called Solar Energy: Practical Opportunities Now.
Howell is part of an international committee that writes world standards for solar power systems, and has been helping people put solar systems on their homes and businesses.
Howell teaches people what solar energy is, and its practical uses.
Presenter John Kolk lives in Picture Butte, Alberta, in a home made of straw he and his wife built, and offers practical advice on his experience with projects like the house, as well as solar energy, rainwater collection, and wind energy.
Olivia Sieniewicz is a project engineer with Alberta Agricultural and Rural Development, and she will be talking about lighting.
Sieniewicz talks about newer energy-saving technology in lighting, as well as various types of lighting available for agricultural use.
She will also talk about Electricity Sub Meters, and how to install and use sub-meters to monitor electricity use in different applications on the farm.
The presentation will be held the last week of March in Heisler.
The day includes a lunch, and requires registration through the Battle River Research Group, www.battleriverresearch.com.
