Forestburg Flyers sail into second round of Playoffs

Fo-Flyers-3-Jan-28-14 Forestburg moved into the second round of the playoffs in the East Central Senior Hockey League with their 6-1 win over the Consort Comets at home on Saturday, Mar. 1.

The team will face the Hanna Phantoms, who ended the season with the same win/loss stats as the Flyers, and who eliminated the Oyen Eagles with a 5-2 win on Saturday.

Last time these two teams met was Jan. 25, when the Flyers defeated the Phantoms 6-2.

The first game between these two will be Friday, Mar. 7 in Forestburg, with game two Sunday, Mar. 9 in Hanna.

The Hughenden Jets, meanwhile, defeated the Coronation Royals 4-2 in Coronation Saturday to take that series, and will meet the Provost Combines in their second round, playing at home Friday, Mar. 7, then in Provost Saturday, Mar. 8.

Wouldn’t it be great if the ECSHL mirrored the BRHL and we ended up with two local teams in the championship!
