The Killam Wheat Kings hosted the Vermilion Tigers on Friday, Dec. 13.

Killam came up against Vermilion’s hot goalie as he robbed the Killam shooters time and time again. Despite outshooting the Tigers, the Wheat Kings lost 2-1.

In Friday’s game, the Wheaties debuted newly signed goaltender Ethan Maertens-Pale, who seemed to settle right in between the posts.

The Wheat Kings also had new head coach Jamie Langley behind the bench.

There was no scoring in the first period and both teams seemed to struggle with the momentum and set up plays.

All the scoring happened in the second period with the Tigers getting on the scoreboard on the power-play.

They then took a two goal lead on a shorthanded break-away.

Wheat King Jordan Sand found the back of the net, with assists from Jared Heisler and Justin Ness on the power-play.

The second period ended with a score of 2-1 for Vermilion.
