July RCMP Report: Police investigate shots fired in Forestburg
For the period of July 8 through 18, the detachment initiated a total of 76 files in a 10 day perod.
Some of these included the following: 16 false alarm calls, two false or abandoned 911 calls, five Mischief calls, four reports of Suspicious persons, nine motor vehicle collisions in addition to those reported separately at their front counter, one animal call, three calls regarding theft, one Careless Use of a Firearm, two Cause Disturbance complaints, one complaint of a traffic violation, two instances of providing assistance to the public, two Impaired Driving charges, and two reports of Break and Enter to local businesses.
Police responded as well to many other miscellaneous calls for service, most of which cannot be reported on due to ongoing investigation or sensitivity to the persons involved.
On Friday, July 5, police were called out to investigate shots fired in Forestburg. Sgt. Lee Brachmann, NCO/ic of the Killam-Forestburg Detachment, says this case is still under investigation, but that a suspect has been identified and charged. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Police were called back to Forestburg on July 8 in the early morning hours on a report of a break and enter at a business.
The complainant had come in and noted that a window in a door had been broken, police believe that a rock was thrown through another window, causing it to break as well.
While investigating the first complaint, members were alerted to a second break and enter at a different Forestburg business location.
