The Battle River 4-H Beef Club hosted the annual 4-H Steer Show at the Lougheed Arena on Monday, June 3.
Dorothy Spiller, Daysland correspondent for The Community Press for 28 years, officially retired from writing the Daysland News earlier in the year, and was recognized Thursday by the Community Press for her contribution to her community. At a tea held at Providence Place, residents and family were on hand to share in the celebration.

In an announcement made June 4, Premier Alison Redford listed Killam as one of 24 communities chosen in the ‘second wave’ for new Family Care Clinics. (FCC) “Our government made a commitment to Albertans that we would increase access to primary health care, and we are doing just that,” said Redford.

The Heisler Cardinals hosted their annual baseball tournament on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 with eight teams participating: Spring Lake Lakers, Castor Raiders, Camrose Cougars, Lougheed Wildcats, Provost Combine Pilots, Rosalind A’s, and the Camrose Roadrunners.
Sgt. Lee Brachmann, NOC/ic of the Killam/Forestburg RCMP detachment says that due to a severe shortage of administrative staff, as he called it, the detachment is running reduced office hours for the time being.
