Flagstaff 4-H Steer Show a full day for members
The Battle River 4-H Beef Club hosted the annual 4-H Steer Show at the Lougheed Arena on Monday, June 3.
With Flagstaff County and 4-H both celebrating 100 years in operation, this promised to be quite a show.
Iron Creek 4-H Club is 30 years, so a celebration cake was enjoyed by 4-H members, families, and friends.
Club judge Maureen Mappin, along with Showmanship Judge Kevin Maxwell and Grooming Judge Glen Maxwell, got the show started right at 9:30 a.m. Ringpersons were Carla Ness and Cassie Davidson.
The Battle River Club entered the ring first with two classes.
The juniors showed first followed by the intermediate and senior showing second.
First in the juniors was Dillan Rosiechuk, with Blake Hays finishing first in the second round.
The Battle River Champion belonged to Dillan Rosiechuk with the Reserve going to Blake Hays.
Second to show was the Hastings Coulee 4-H Beef and they were also split into two classes.
Jayce Fossen came out as the Hastings Coulee Champion and Halley Adams picked up the Reserve.
Wavy Lake showed third with Lane Birkjar finishing with the Wavy Lake Champion and Lindsey Haesloop finishing with the Reserve Champion.
Last to show was the Iron Creek Club and Taylor Hogg came out with the Iron Creek Champion with Sierra Freadrich finishing with the Reserve Champion.
While the 4-H steers were being judged, so were the 4-H members for their grooming skills and showmanship.
