Flagstaff County adopts Rural Road Study
Flagstaff Council adopted a Rural Road Study Wednesday, Apr. 17 during their regular council meeting.
The study was approved in 2011 as a new initiative project intended to conduct a Public Works program and services review, with a focus on a review of the county’s arterial road network, as well as reviewing the long term road construction plan and processes of the road recovery program.
The study was conducted by Genivar Inc. a national firm who have partnered with municipalities across Canada to develop infrastructure planning.
Garth McCullough from Genivar was on hand Wednesday to present the completed study to Council. He explained that the study was all-inclusive; the firm met with the county’s Public Works department as well as with Council as the report was developed.
The study presents a hierarchical system of identifying arterial or main roadways, collectors, and local roadways within the county, to provide an efficient transportation method within Flagstaff.
