Daysland School receives substantial donation for new PA from memorial fund
“I hope you never get tired of hearing how music has touched people’s lives,” says Paula Tomaszewski.
Tomaszewski is referring to a very special fund, called the Shuter Memorial Fund, that has provided thousands of dollars of scholarships through Music Centre Canada, “for kids that have the love of music, but not the opportunity or means to own an instrument or take lessons to nurture their talent.”
Greg Shute was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in 2009, but left such a legacy of love and music behind that his friends felt the only thing they could do in death to honour his remarkable love of music was to create a memorial fund in his name.

On Mar. 19, representatives of the fund were at the Daysland School, where they presented $8,500 for a new PA system for the school. Teacher Pat Whittleton was ecstatic with the news, he says, “Wes Baumle contacted me after he heard about the school’s need for our aging sound system in the gym.”
