Daysland Northstars have stellar outings against Tofield; tie series
The Battle River Hockey League final series has heated up with the Daysland Northstars, who went into game three on Saturday, Mar. 23 down 2-0 in the best-of-seven to the Tofield Satellites.
The Northstars laid a 10-4 beating on the Satellites in Daysland to a packed barn. They then went to Tofield on Sunday and evened the series up at 2-2 with a 6-3 win.
This series has turned out to be quite the battle as there is no love lost between these teams, which makes for some entertaining hockey for the fans.
Game three in Daysland on Saturday, Mar. 23 saw the Northstars take the early lead when Northstar Karson French scored on the first shot on the Tofield net on a feed from Ryan Yuha and David Jacobsen.
The teams battled from end to end for the first half of the frame. With 8:35 left in the first, Tofield evened the score, and 20 seconds later, off the face off, took a one goal lead.
Daysland tied it on a power-play goal by Ryan Yuha, but then Tofield regained the lead late in the period. With just over two minutes remaining, Devan Herder tied it up for Daysland, making the score 3-3 after the first with a total of five goals in eight minutes.
