Forestburg Concert Series has colourful history
Montreal Guitar Trio, or MG3, are one of many talented and diverse acts the Forestburg Concert Series has presented over the last 23 years
The Forestburg Concert Series has quite a colourful history. After all, Forestburg was never a stranger to entertainment.
In Forestburg’s early days, the centre of song and dance was the Sven Svenson Hall, located above the pool room.
The grand opening of that new hall took place Jan. 3, 1917.
The building of a new hall, the Crillion Theater, in 1927 by W.E. Voss was another event.
Picture shows, plays, whist drives, and church events made the place very popular. Saturday night dances always drew large crowds.
In June of 1931, the last of the seven grand Chautauqua Programs was announced by the Forestburg Committee.
These programs were educational, instructive, and amusing, featuring world-famous musicians and several smash comedy hits.
