Wheat Kings season at an end, team salutes fans in finale game
The Killam Wheat Kings were eliminated from the NEAJBHL playoffs by the Wainwright Bisons on Friday, Mar. 8 in Killam.
The Bisons swept the Wheat Kings with a 3-1 win in game four to clinch the series.
The game had high intensity and great goaltending by both teams. Shots were even at 32 for each team.
It was bittersweet for Killam fans and players alike. The fans were lucky to see James Newby score his last goal as a Wheatie, as he along with Richard Lansing, Jason Yuha, and Wyatt Fraser, will not be returning to the Killam line up next season as they are no longer eligible to play due to age.
The Wheaties thanked the fans with a stick salute before leaving the ice to wrap up the 2012-13 season.
