Daysland leading Hardisty 3-1 in semi-final series after weekend games
The Hardisty Stampeders travelled to Daysland on Friday, Mar. 1 to face off against the Northstars in game three of the best-of-seven Battle River Hockey League semi-finals. The Northstars were leading the series 2-0.
The Stampeders came out with intensity and fought hard. Despite being out-shot 37-26, they were able to get the 3-2 overtime win.
Hardisty was first on the scoreboard on a goal by Scott Maetche, from Trevor Bromby, at the midway point of the first. The Northstars tied it up on a goal by Devan Herder, assisted by Gregory Doll and Dean Petiot, with the score 1-1 after one.
There was no scoring in the second period and only two penalties were called, both to Daysland.
The Northstars out-shot the Stamps but could not get one past Hardisty’s goaltender, Ramstead, who gave a stellar performance throughout the game earning the first star of the game honours.
