Hardisty takes series; will face Daysland in BRHL semi finals
The semi-final match-ups have been decided in the Battle River Hockey League, with Tofield advancing with a 6-4 win in game four taking the series 3-1 over the Sedgewick Sabres. They will now meet the Provost Blades in semi-final action.
The Daysland North-stars, who advanced with a sweep over the Big Valley Oil Kings, will face off against the Hardisty Stampeders who came from a two game deficit against the Macklin Mohawks.
Daysland is the current champion of the BRHL and is looking for a third straight championship.
The Sabres, who were down 2-1 in the series, came out strong at home on Friday, Feb. 15. They out-shot the Satellites 41-36 and had a 3-1 lead after the first period. They ended up losing 6-4 with the Satellites getting the empty net goal and the series win.
The Sabres had a goal disallowed with the reason given that it didn’t go in. It seemed everyone in the building saw it go in and come back out except the officials, who had a lengthy discussion before ruling it a no goal.
