Sabres-Northstars matchup fast-paced entertainment

The Sedgewick Sabres hosted the Daysland Northstars on Wednes-day, Nov. 14 in their home-opener in the Battle River Hockey League at the Sedgewick Rec Centre.

The fans were treated to fast-paced, evenly matched play, with some fantastic goaltending from Northstars goalie Andrew Sinclair, stopping 32 of the 33 shots he faced for a 2-1 win.

Although the game was well played by both teams, it was rough, with 37 infractions being handed out, four game suspensions, and two players receiving double game suspensions.

Neither team could capitalize with the man advantage; Daysland was 0-8, while Sedge-wick was 0-6 on the power-play.

The Northstars scored early in the first on a goal by Colin Zimmer, from Justin Trautman and Dean Petiot.

The Sabres evened the score late in the period on a goal by Ryley Johnson from Kevin Landry for a one-all tie after one period.
