The Czar Quilt Guild’s 12th annual Show, held on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27, was once again an unqualified success, with well over 300 visitors, although the club says numbers are down a bit from previous years.

The guild has members from Sedgewick to Paradise Valley, even as far away as Lacombe, with a number of members from Hardisty, Hughenden, and Czar.

This year’s show had a very special display, honouring the memory of longtime member Dorothy (Dotty) Miller, who joined the guild in 2004, but passed away in June. Dorothy was from Alliance. Also on display was one of her prize-winning quilts.

The whimsical outdoor display, of an old metal bedstand covered with a colourful quilt, as well as a quilt hanging on the bus maintenance shop across the street, hinted at the unusual and creative displays within the hall.

This year’s show featured a total of 265 quilts, and the displays completely transform the Czar Community Hall.

During Saturday afternoon, Ralph Storbakken and friends entertained the visitors, who had an opportunity to sit and enjoy tea and cookies after touring the hall.
