Killam RCMP issue public warning about vehicle related to shooting

2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup similar to that operated by Sawyer Robison

RCMP issued a press release late in the day advising the public that the 2000 Chev Silverado pickup described in earlier news releases as being the vehicle Sawyer Robison was using, has still not been found.

Police warn that the vehicle may present a danger to the public, as it is believed to contain weapons which have also not been located. The truck is black in colour, with licence plate UZE545.

RCMP warn that if the vehicle is found, no one should touch it in any way, including opening doors, or touching or entering the vehicle in any manner.

The pickup may be concealed on rural property, or may be parked in or near abandoned rural buildings. Rural landowners are asked to check their properties for the vehicle and notify police immediately at 1-780-385-3502 if they see that the vehicle has been placed on their property.  Members of the public are urged not to approach the vehicle at all.

The truck is an extended cab model, often described as a three door, with an additional door behind the driver’s door, that has no door handle on the outside.

During a press release earlier in the day held at K Division offices in Edmonton, RCMP advised that Robison was arrested without incident on a rural roadside about 20km south-east of Killam. Police say that while Robison is obviously stressed, that he appears to be in good physical condition. It was believed that Robison received some assistance from local people, as he was arrested while in a vehicle with two other people, police have not determined whether the people with them would face any charges.

Robison was unarmed when the arrest was made, and the weapons he was believed to be carrying are unaccounted for.

RCMP feel that the family’s help was instrumental in Robison’s arrest, saying that the public plea made a significant difference to the search.

Police are extremely relieved that the situation has been resolved in a peaceful manner, and are grateful for the overwhelming public support they have received, thanking the citizens of the Killam [Flagstaff] area in particular.
