Killam RCMP shooting UPDATE: Officers recovering after surgery, prospects of recovery look good!
RCMP have released new information today regarding the shooting incident yesterday between Sedgewick and Lougheed which left two local RCMP members in surgery last night with gunshot wounds.
The injured RCMP members were named as Cst. Sheldon Shah, and Cst. Sidney Gaudette, who are said to be recovering in Edmonton hospitals today, much to the relief of the community.
Police say they entered a rural residence between Sedgewick and Lougheed this morning, where RCMP had attempted to execute a search warrant Feb. 7, and found one adult male deceased inside the home. Police are not releasing the identity of this individual.
Police continue to search for a person of interest in the shootings, one Sawyer Clarke Robison, who was reported as being seen leaving the property yesterday afternoon as four RCMP members from the Killam detachment arrived. RCMP have released a photo of Robison, and say that he may be driving a black 2000 Chev. Silverado pickup with Alberta Licence Plate #UZE545.
RCMP warn that people should not approach this individual directly, but report any sighting to RCMP, also stating, “It would be in Robinson’s best interest to call the nearest RCMP Detachment as soon as possible to make arrangements to speak with the investigators.”
Police continue to search the residence and outbuildings on the rural property, ensuring the scene is safe.
The incident was referred to the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, who investigate all incidents involving serious injury or death that may have resulted from the actions of the police.
