Family pets stolen during Home Break-in

Haeli Carter hasn’t missed a church service in 12 years.

However she does wish she had missed the Oct. 23rd service. While she and her children were busy worshipping, thieves were pilfering through their Tofield area home.

A few minutes before noon Carter and her children arrived home to find many of their possessions stolen. Yet even more disturbing to her and her children was the fact the vandals stole their precious dogs Molly and Sassy.

“It took me a few minutes to clue in,” said Carter, who phoned local RCMP three minutes after Noon.

Stuff was strewn everywhere, adds Carter, as thieves stole clothes, hunting gear, antlers, knives, camera cards, DVD’s, IPhones, jewellery, photographs, art supplies, Tylenol 4, and even a case of chocolate bars. Carter estimates the thieves took around $10,000 worth of possessions. To make matters worse, Carter had no insurance.

The home invasion, which happened sometime between 9:15 a.m. and 11:55 a.m., has been very traumatic for the family, who has resided in the Tofield area for the past 21 years. One of Carter’s children is even now, too afraid to play outside for fear the criminals will return.

While the offenders have not yet been apprehended, Carter is not giving up hope, convinced that someone must have either seen or heard something during the two hour stealing spree. Even though the vandals took papers for Carter’s registered paint horse, they were unable to catch it.

Carter also isn’t giving up hope on her “two babies,” Molly and Sassy, will be found. That is why she has put up more than 40 posters in the Tofield, Lindbrook, Kingman areas offering a reward for their beloved canines.

Anyone with information about the break in, or the two missing dogs are asked to call 780-222-5452 or Tofield RCMP at 780-662-3353.
