Flagstaff County Council met for the first time since the October municipal election, electing a new Reeve and Deputy Reeve, on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

The first order of business during Council’s organizational meeting was administering an Oath of office, followed by election of Reeve Don Kroetch by secret ballot. Kroetch said afterwards, “Thanks, guys. I appreciate your vote of confidence. Over time, I hope to earn your respect, and us working together as a team.”

After taking a second oath of office, for Reeve, Kroetch continued, “I’ve listened lots over the last few weeks and days. We have a very diverse new Council, and I believe that’s what we need, a Council with different strengths and weaknesses.

“I think we will serve our county very well, and our community well. Let’s go forward with confidence, and have a good four years.”

Jeff Eckstrand declined a nomination for Deputy Reeve, and Howard Shield was nominated and allowed his name to stand. Uncontested, Shield is Flagstaff’s Deputy Reeve.
