Killam RCMP charge two with assault of an elderly patient

Killam, Alberta RCMP – On Tuesday, August 22, Killam RCMP received a report of elder abuse by two staff members at the Killam Health Centre. It is alleged an 88-year-old female patient was assaulted while in care on Sunday, August 20.

Killam RCMP arrested and charged two staff members on August 22.

Koren Makarowski**, a 39-year-old from Strome, Alberta has been charged with one Criminal Code offence of assault. She was released after a judicial hearing with a Recognizance and court conditions. She is set to appear in Killam Provincial Court on Tuesday, September 5.

Karen Kueber**, a 53-year-old female from Killam, Alberta has been charged with three counts of assault. She was released after a judicial hearing with a Recognizance and court conditions. She is set to appear in Killam Provincial Court on Tuesdsay, September 5.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided by RCMP.
