The Victoria Ballet Company will be in Camrose this December with a performance of The Nutcracker, at the Lougheed Centre in Camrose.

What will make this performance very special for some is the opportunity for local dancers to try out to be part of the cast.

Local dancers play the party children, as well as the Russian dancers, and the mice.

Camrose Academy of Dance Artistic Director Lisa Rootsaert will be heading up an audition schedule.

“It is a great opportunity for Camrose dancers to participate in a professional show.

Ballet Victoria’s Nutcracker is a classic that everyone will enjoy.

“There are many parts available for a wide range of dancers”, says Rootsaert.

“Everyone is welcome to audition, but must be able to commit to the tight rehearsal schedule prior to the show.”

Open auditions will be held at the Lougheed Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 26, and participants are required to call the box office ahead of time to schedule an audition.

Nick Beach, General Manager of the Lougheed Centre, is excited to have a local component to the show.

“It engages the community in a unique and creative way.
