Alberta Health Services announced on Friday, June 29, that full-time Emergency Department services were once again available at the Hardisty Health Care Centre, beginning on Monday, July 4.

The department is now open 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

The acute care beds that had also been closed earlier in the year due to the lack of a permanent physician have now also been reopened.

The Health Centre has recently welcomed a new physician, Dr. Odetola, and the Flagstaff Physician Recruitment and Retention committee, as well as Alberta Health Services, are currently actively recruiting a second physician for the area.

In the interim, the Town of Hardisty took over the operations of the Hardisty Medical Clinic after the retirement of Dr. Botha, to ensure at least part-time ER services have been available over the past few months.

Dr. Odetola has been completing his out-of-country assessment through a clinic in Grande Prairie, but has now started up his practice in Hardisty.
