Nights Alive is taking students ages 14 through 17 on a free bus trip to tour parts of the University of Alberta.

On Friday, June 10, the bus will head to Edmonton, where students will get the opportunity to check out the nutrition lab and the robotics lab at the university.

Nights Alive director Sue Freadrich said that Sydney Hampshire, who attends the University of Alberta, and also works at Flagstaff Regional Solid Waste Management, approached her with the idea.

The pair worked together to organize the event for area youth who may be considering where to further their education after they leave high school.

“She has been very helpful in lining up the labs,” said Freadrich of Hampshire.

The cost of the bus trip is completely covered by Nights Alive, and attending students need only bring a bag lunch.

“We have already at least 20 kids signed up so far,” said Freadrich.
