Railway fundraising gala exceeds expectations

BRR-gala
The Friends of the Battle River Railway were very pleased to welcome 180 people to the Galahad Agriplex on Saturday, April 9 for an excellent evening.

The “Friends” organized this night as a fundraiser with the theme, “A little heat goes a long way!”

The evening’s fundraising was aimed at buying a H.E.P. car.

“Friends” board member Joanne McMahon says, “with this extra car, we will be able to provide power to our passenger car, therefore heat.

“As our ‘Friends of the Battle River Railway’ group is completely independent from the Battle River Railway, (BRR), we have to rent an engine from the BRR.

“To date we have been renting a large generator from Camrose, to run our much-needed heat. With this H.E.P. car, we will be able to alleviate that expense to our non-profit organization.”’

Saturday night, the Galahad Agriplex was transformed into a striking setting of red and black.
