Northstars bring winning ways to new league, crowned NCHL champion

The Northstars and the Pontiacs were even at 1-1 in the best-of-five NCHL championship series after the first two games in Bonnyville.




Game three took place in Daysland on Saturday, March 12.

The game was intense with lots of speed and hard hits. Shots on goal were 25-22, with Bonnyville having a slight edge.

Carter Danzack scored a beauty from Aucoin and Trautman to make it a 6-2 final for Daysland, and give the Northstars the 2-1 series advantage going in to game four on Sunday.

Game four took place in Daysland with a sellout crowd in attendance.

The Northstars got the game and series winner with 1:35 remaining in regulation time on a power-play goal by Danzack from Erickson.

Northstars forward Scott Aucoin was named the playoff MVP.




The Northstars were presented with the Vanberg Cup by NCHL President George Vanberg and Vice President Jerry Muise.

Along with the League championship, the Northstars have earned a spot in the AA Senior Men’s provincial tournament, in Nanton March 24 to 27.
