1009945The Health Quality Council of Alberta released the findings of their Long-Term Care Family Experience Survey last week, and Galahad Care Centre rated in the top five in the province, with an overall satisfaction rating of 9.5 out of 10.

Hardisty Health Centre also got an excellent rating, of 9.1 out of 10, and the Killam Health Care Centre rated an 8.2.

Survey respondents were asked to rate on six different criteria, including staffing, care of belongings, and environment; kindess and respect; food rating scale; providing information and family involvement; meeting basic needs; and propensity to recommend.

Galahad scored best on meeting basic needs, propensity to recommend, and kindness and respect, getting the least points for food rating and providing information and family involvement.

Hardisty, too, scored the best on meeting basic needs and propensity to recommend, doing well on providing information and family involvmenet, but scoring just 76 out of 100 for food rating scale.

Killam’s two highest scores were in the same categories as Hardisty and Galahad, with food again scoring the lowest, just 64 out of 100.

Overall, facilities located in rural centres tended to get higher scores from residents and their families, with four of the bottom five facilities located in Edmonton and Grande Prairie, and all of the top five facilities in smaller centres.
