Country Roots tour ends in ‘Made in Flagstaff’ dinner

Come and explore Flagstaff County was the refrain for the Country Roots Tour, on Saturday, Aug. 15.

Originally planning two tours, a farm/agriculture tour and a museum tour, the museum tour did not have enough interested participants to run this year, but the Farm Tour was full to the brim.

Despite the pouring rain Saturday morning, eager participants gathered at the County Administration building in Sedgewick at 8:30 to start the tour.

The tour, a joint concept from the ASB and Economic Development, started at Ruzicka Sunrise Farm, where Don and Marie Ruzicka talked about their holistic approach to farming.

After a stop at Haus Falkenstein for world-famous schnitzel, the tour resumed, heading to the Lougheed Hutterite Colony.

Many participants said they thoroughly enjoyed the day, adding that there was so much to see on the colony tour that they could have spent the whole day there.

‘Tourists’ enjoyed both tours, and said of the Sunrise Farm tour, “It’s nice to see someone who cares so much about the environment.”
