Shawn Knievel, moved from Killam to Camrose at under a year old, but he recently made the Knievel family proud by winning the prestigious Rosie Award from the Alberta Media Production Industries Association, for Best Student Production, for a dramatic piece he co-produced with girlfriend Amanda Trimble called “Dear 604/Chere 604.”

Knievel had three other entries, Best Student Production for his film “Ditch,” Best Performance by an Alberta Actor (Paul Sutherland) in “Ditch,” and Best  Cinematographer for his work on “Dear 604/Chere 604.”

Knievel says that the nominations other than the best student production category go against industry professionals, and was very pleased to have his applications accepted in those categories.

The submissions for the Rosie awards are sent to panels across Canada, and as he explained, entries are not always accepted as nominations.

This is Knievel’s first win at the Rosies.
