The Friends of the Battle River Railway celebrated a special inaugural weekend for their Platinum Club members on the weekend of July 6 – 7.

The weekend featured two different train trips for members to choose from, with Saturday’s trip starting with breakfast in Forestburg, featuring lunch in Alliance, dessert in Galahad, and a supper and social back in Forestburg, and Sunday’s trip starting with breakfast in Forestburg, featuring lunch in Alliance, and a trip to the Camrose County Park, then back to a supper and social in Forestburg.

Platinum Club members are those who supported the development of the group’s initiatives by purchasing pairs of tickets on the inaugural run for $1,000.

Dozens of volunteers in each community worked hard to welcome the BRR passengers and make the trip very special.

After a short program over breakfast Saturday, the passengers travelled from the Masonic Hall in Forestburg to the track siding, where the Heritage car awaited them, in a parade led by Forestburg piper Doug Brown, with Battle River Railway directors.

Saturday’s trip to Alliance and Galahad was taken by both villages as an opportunity to show off their strengths.
