The RCMP report returns to the CP as a regular feature this week.

Over the six day period from Friday, Apr. 12 to the morning of Thursday, Apr. 18, the Killam/Forestburg RCMP detachment received 33 calls for service, “That’s 33 calls that generated files,” clarifies Sgt. Lee Brachmann, NCO/ic of the detachment.

Of those, Brachmann says seven were 9-1-1 hangup calls. “But we still have to investigate them.”

911 hangups are quickly becoming one of the biggest problems for law enforcement officers across the country, including in our local detachment.

“When or if you accidentally dial 911, or your child does, please just stay on the line and tell us you’re okay,” says Brachmann. “Don’t be too embarrassed.”
