Killam goalie top draft pick of Swift Current Broncos

On May 3, Killam’s Travis Child, 14, was chosen 29th overall in the Bantam WHL draft.

Child was picked by the Swift Current Broncos. He was the third goalie chosen in the draft, and it was reported later that he was the Broncos’ top pick in goal.

Child started playing hockey when he was four years old, he said, and decided in his second year of novice to try playing in goal.

“I wanted to give it a try,” he said, “it was a position I’d always liked.”

Not only did Child like playing in goal, he was good at it too.
