Lakeland College Student awards honour Flagstaff students

Lakeland College distributed over $689,000 in awards to 724 students during their annual Awards Night celebration, held Mar. 14 on the Vermilion campus, and Mar. 22 on the Lloydminster campus.

Local students receiving awards included David Dahl, of Sedgewick, who is enrolled in the Appraisal and Assessment program, and received the Alberta Assessors’ Asso-ciation Achievement Award, the Barry Richardson Memorial award, the Jason Lang Scholarship, and the Lakeland College Alumni Association Award; Tyson Lancaster, of Sedgewick, who is enrolled in the University transfer program, received the Jason Lang Scholarship; Jessica Roth of Daysland, who is enrolled in the Animal Health Technology, received the Jason Lang Scholarship; Colleen Kroetsch of Heisler, who is enrolled in the Carpenter program, received the Black and Decker Carpentry Award; Coleman Watt of Hardisty, who is enrolled in the Carpenter program, received the Rodeo Team Perfor-mance Scholarship.

In addition, another $38,500 was awarded last fall to another 81 students through Lakeland College’s bursary program which supports students in high financial need. 

These amounts bring the total dollar amount of student bursaries, awards, and scholarships to $733,421, distributed to 814 recipients for the 2011-12 academic year.
