BRHL playoffs now down to the semi-finals

    On Friday, Feb. 10, the Daysland Northstars advanced to the semi-finals in the BRHL with a 9-2 win over the Big Valley Oil Kings in game five of their best-of-seven in the opening round of playoffs.

    The Northstars out-shot the Oil Kings 41-21 and defended their blue line like masters in front of a big hometown crowd. Chad Marchant opened the scoring two minutes into the first assisted by Curtis Bergstrom

    On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Hardisty Stampeders advanced to the semi-finals with an 8-3 victory over the Irma Aces in game five of their series in front of their loyal fans who packed the arena to show support.
    The first period remained scoreless until Irma drew first blood late in the period on a goal by Jason Breitkreitz.
    Three minutes later, Hardisty’s Brad MacNab evened the score to send the teams to the dressings rooms tied after one period.

    In game five in Sedgewick, the teams were tied with 10 seconds left and Tofield found the net to stay alive in the series.
    Game six took place in Tofield on Sunday, Feb. 12. Once again, the play was physical with 13 infractions being served.
